Attie is a beautiful Kelpie crossbreed who has a heart of gold! Attie has good basic obedience and can sit, place, stay, play fetch, loose lead walking, down, drop and wont eat unless you tell her too. She has lived with another dog before, but we feel that Attie would benefit from being an only dog. Attie was unfortunately surrendered due to the owners not being able to find pet friendly accomodation. She did board with Take the Lead for 6 months whilst trying to find housing.
Attie is house trained and has grown up with teenage children. She has not had much exposure to small kids. Attie is respectful and will require ongoing training, socialisation and appropriate exposure. She would benefit from an active family lifestyle.
Cobber was originally rehomed through our organisation as a puppy. He has now developed into a tall, elegant dog!
Cobber is quite independent and likes to be around his family but also likes to have his own space. He is fully crate trained and has been working through some place training. He walks beautifully on leash and has a really beautiful personality.
He can get nervous of unpredictable objects but this is easily managed through appropriate exposure and training which will be provided at the handover. He gets along well with the other dogs in the social yard and has been great with my respectful children, but we will be rehoming him with children over 8.
He has lived comfortably with a dog friendly cat.
Cobber will make an ideal running companion and would thrive off of being made a real member of the family.
Buddy came in with beautiful Bella. Buddy is just as loving and just as gentle. He gets along well with other dogs (mainly testing best with females) and would be suited to a female companion.
Buddy walks pleasantly on leash and has basic obedience. He has a sweet soul and would love for someone to love him as much as he loves them. Beach walks, strolls to get coffee, sunbaking whilst you read a book... what more could someone want?
Buddy will make the ideal companion. He has not been tested with cats but has not lived with them at all in his life, and would suit older children as he can still get quite excited to see you!
Henry has been such a loved dog with his previous owner, but unfortunately he was no longer able to keep him. Henry gets along well with other female dogs and smaller breed dogs. He has good basic obedience but can get a little nervous with new people. He is never nasty but backs off if he is unsure. Once he gets to know you, he is a love bug and will smother you with love and affection.
Henry will need a large breed experienced owner who is strong and will set rules and boundaries.
Jax is a 3 year old male Dalmatian who is fun, loving and incredibly active. The Dalmatian is a medium-sized, well-defined, muscular dog with excellent endurance and stamina.
The roles of this breed are as varied as their reputed ancestors. They were used as dogs of war, guarding the borders of Dalmatia. To this day, the breed retains a high guarding instinct; although friendly and loyal to those the dog knows and trusts, it is often aloof with strangers and unknown dogs. Dalmatians have a strong hunting instinct and are an excellent exterminator of rats and vermin.
Jax shows common traits of the Dalmatian listed above. He would make an ideal companion for a single person household, or a family with respectful older children.
Jax thrives off of rules, boundaries and training. He will need someone who is aware of dog behaviour so they can continue on with the foundations we have implemented. His food drive is through the roof, which helps with training.
He would be better suited as an only dog. No cats or pocket pets as he has not yet been tested.
Leia was lucky enough to board with the Take the Lead team over the Christmas and New Years break. Unfortunately, the family were unable to keep her so they made the reluctant decision today to find her a new forever home.
Leia will be placed up for adoption immediately as we have had her in our care for the last three weeks and have got to know her so well!
She is one of the most loving, friendly girls you will ever come across! An attention hog to put it nicely! If your hands are there, she will push into them initiating love and pats! She gets along really well with all of the other resident dogs - big and small. She’s playful, yet respectful and LOVES the runs with the ATV.
She thrives off of routine and would benefit from someone who is home often, or has another dog companion.
Leia LOVES her feline friends so can be safely rehomed with cats and kids too! She loves little kids but due to her size, can accidentally knock them over or lick their entire body!
Leia is an 18 month old Great Dane crossbreed who weighs 49.2kgs. She is currently on high quality puppy food with a mixture of balanced raw.
Meg is a active, fun smaller than normal Border Collie who has had some pretty extensive training. She was trained successfully as a service dog but unfortunately, due to a few undesirable behaviours was not able to continue on with this work so she has since been placed back with us!
Meg is a busy dog. She likes to be doing things all of the time. She has lovely basic obedience, great recall and gets along well with other animals. She needs a guardian who is going to be proactive about managing her busy mind and not just by physical stimulation. She requires a lot of mental stimulation to reduce some of those unwanted behaviours.
If you think you can provide Meg with that home, please pop through an application!
**Please note, Meg will not and cannot be adopted as a service dog!**
Gabby is a well balanced, friendly Rottweiler who is looking for her next stop - her forever home! Gabby has always been a much loved member of a family but unfortunately, due to very personal reasons, she was unable to stay with the family.
We have found Gabby to be compliant, easy going and a pleasure to have at our facility. She gets along well with the other dogs and small respectful children here but due to some resource guarding issues with other dogs, she cannot be placed in a home with another dog.
She walks nicely on the leash and has basic obedience. She is calm, does not jump on people and loves a good belly rub!
Handsome Bear is now ready for his forever home. This man has spent a bit of time at our facility whilst we really got to know him and his personality. He is a shining star and we adore having Bear here. Bear has travelled to an interstate seminar with an international trainer who really liked Bear. He travelled well, crated well and was great with the other dogs!
Bear is good with other female dogs and has great food drive - anything for a treat right?
I think this special boy needs to be met in person to trying see how great he is!
Little Bobbi is a happy little chappy. He is a pretty easy going dog who would ideally benefit from someone who is home often and someone who loves walking, exploring and simply spending time out in nature. He gets along well with other dogs and is with our big dog/little dog social daily.
Shelby is a very friendly and loving girl. She is a purebred GSD who is 6.5 years old. She is great with all other dogs - big and small, cats and respectful children. She walks lovely on leash and has good basic obedience.
Shelby suffers from exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. She is on a very strict care and management plan. Basically, she is on Creon which is available over the counter from your local chemist (approximately $30 for a container), prey model raw, and regular vitamin b12 injections. The vets have kindly offered to teach her new owner to do these injections.
She was on weekly injections but they have been backing off to 8 weekly The most important thing is that she continues to gain weight. She is now 24.7kgs.
Oh, this boy is just divine. I adore him and love spending time with him daily. He is cool and calm about everything and has proven to be good with other female dogs. He would suit a home with older children as he is getting older, his joints may get a little stiff. Buck does not cope well with the heat, so an indoor home would be ideal. We are aware he will need to be outdoors at times - we are mainly talking about the hot days!
Manny is a little cracker of a dog 🔥 Although he is blind in one eye and going blind in the second, this does not slow him down. He holds life with both paws and is looking for a special companion to share those times with.
He gets along well with other dogs, but can be a little ‘bossy’ to the other bigger dogs. He has basic obedience but his favourite cue is ‘sit pretty’ whilst he waits for his dinner.
He would benefit from an active retired, or semi retired individual or couple who are looking for a little companion. Although he is still nice and active, he is also happy to lounge around and soak up the sunshine.
